Overcoming Anger

The first part of this series dealt with identifying the root cause of anger–our desires that have become ruling desires or demands. This sermon tackles the issue of who we biblical deal with those ruling desires. We see in James 4 that repentance is called for, but what does that look like? And how do we do it? These important questions and more are dealt with.

The Heart of Anger

You can’t fight sin if you don’t know what you’re fighting. The most common definition of anger and it’s most suggested remedies are woefully short of uprooting this prolific sin. Fighting anger, not simply managing it, requires us to understand our desires and motives at the root of anger. This sermon explores the heart of anger and the Bible’s hope for real change.

On Head Coverings

What was the practice of head coverings for women? Why was it practiced and is it still relevant for us today? This text produces many questions in our minds and in this sermon, we explore these questions and more. We’ll see that the principles are still applicable today in our generation.

The God Who Upholds (part 2)

Just how in control is God? How does he govern this universe? Does he allow secondary causes (laws of nature) run their course or is he more involved? What we see is that God unholds, governs, and sustains every single particle in his universe for his own glory. Not only does he govern every particle, he directs and upholds every single individual. This is our God!

How Can We Trust God?

In times of suffering, pain and difficulty we can be tempted to sin. We can be tempted to deny God, to distort the truth of God, or to doubt his word and promises. How do we fight against these temptations and trust through times of great adversity? In this sermon, we look at three key attributes of God that are going to kindle a fire of trust in our hearts, give us strength and carry us through the darkness.

I Am the Resurrection

Jesus demonstrated that he has power over death and has life in himself. The enemy of death is no match for the authority of Christ. Death is something that we all must face. Some sooner, others later. In fact, a man who sat listening to this sermon was killed in a car accident later the same day. Turn to Christ to live. Believe in him. He has demonstrated his power in the raising of Lazarus and in his own public…

Do All to the Glory of God

With all the discussions about rights, what about our responsibility to glorify God? What we see from this text is that everything we do is to be done for the glory of God. That is, our actions are to serve others, further the gospel, and honor our Lord. This is a mandate for every single believer.
