Jesus’ Teaching on Divorce

What was Jesus’ teaching on divorce? Regardless on where you fall on the issue, we must remember that Christian marriage is different. Disciples of Jesus Christ are called to a life of self-denial and this attitude must also be present in our marriages.

The Discipleship Road

Humility and suffering mark the road that Jesus walked. For his followers, the weight of sin must be shed as we travel this road to the kingdom of God.

Feeble Faith, Strong Savior

Prayer is an expression of faith in a strong Savior. As our faith in Jesus Christ grows, the product is powerful prayer.Lack of faith results in lack of prayer which leads to lack of power. In this text, Jesus highlights the faithlessness of his disciples and directs their focus back to himself as the object of faith. Jesus also shows the power of God to redeem the captive that is available to his followers through prayer.

Act Like Men

What is needed of men in our day? Men must be men of conviction and men who are strong and courageous. The Scriptures must be our meditation day and night, we must remember that the sovereign God is with us, and we must pursue the noble task that God has given us as men in our homes and church.

A Commitment to Prayer

God has commanded the local church to be engaged in fervent and persistent prayer (1 Tim 2:1-7; Luke 18:1-8). As a loving Father, he desires to answer the prayers of his children (Matt 7:7-11). Therefore, the church should be committed to regular times of corporate prayer (Acts 1:14; 2:42; 4:23-31; 13:1-3), to caring intercession for fellow believers (Phil 1:9-11), and to praying for the advancement of the gospel and salvation of the lost (2 Thess 3:1; Rom 10:1).

If our task is to make and mature disciples. Our task is to proclaim the gospel to people so that people become followers of Christ and then people are taught to obey what Jesus commanded. Not only does this mean we must be about to people, we must be committed to the word, to the Scriptures. And what does a trellis and vine have anything to do with it?The church is a called out people sent on mission to call others to follow Jesus Christ through proclaiming the gospel, baptizing, and giving instruction so that people obey what Christ has commanded.
