Sermons on Luke (Page 11)
The Son with Two Fathers
At twelve years of age Jesus had incredible self-awareness. Here he confesses that he is the Son of God and is the Lord’s Christ. At the same time, we’re reminded that Jesus is human. How this fits together is ultimately beyond our understanding but it absolutely necessary for the gospel. Here is Christ Jesus revealed, our Passover Lamb! Passage: Luke 2:41-52
Seeing God’s Salvation

Rejoicing in a Great Salvation
When John the Baptist is born, Zechariah is filled with the Holy Spirit and utters words of praise and worship. These words are filled with truth concerning Christ that will bring us great hope and joy. We see in these verses that salvation is much more that we often hear that it is. Passage: Luke 1:57-80
Rejoicing in the Mighty One
We examine the contagious joy of Elizabeth and Mary as they rejoice in the Lord and magnify his might and mercy. May their joy challenge us to have joy in God in our present circumstances. Here is a call to turn from sin which zaps our joy and turn to God in whom there is fullness of joy forevermore. Passage: Luke 1:39-56

The Forerunner Foretold
We begin the account of Jesus with the foretelling of John the baptizers birth. Zechariah and Elizabeth are chosen of the Lord to bring forth this child who will prepare the way for the Christ. May God use his word to prepare our own hearts to receive Christ and be brought to him. Passage: Luke 1:5-25

The Law of Love
We are constantly reminded to love our neighbor in the midst of this pandemic. What does it mean to biblically love our neighbor? This sermon examines Jesus’ teaching and applies it to our present circumstances.
God? Disease, Suffering, and Death

Messiah Has Come
After God created the world, sin quickly entered his good creation. In the midst of that first act of human rebellion God made a promise to send a deliverer who would rescue this world from sin and defeat all evil–including death itself. At the incarnation, the promised one is here! Jesus Christ entered his creation as a child. He came to give his life as a ransom. He came to rescue his people from their sins. In these chapters we…
