Sermons on 1 Thessalonians

The Rapture and the End of the Age

What is the rapture and where do you find it in the Bible? What happens before and what happens after? Common and important questions to which the Bible clearly speaks. So that we understand what Scripture says, we take the time to examine all four passages in the Bible which speak about the “rapture” or gathering of the church at the end of the age. What we see is that the end times is much simpler than we’ve been told.

A Life of Thanksgiving

Luther said that gratitude is the most basic Christian attitude. Christians, of all people, should be thankful all the time. Here we have a reminder why. We look at the past, present, and future for reasons why we should be grateful in every and any circumstance.

A Life of Prayer

** Note: The last half of the recording has no video but audio was recorded. What is the proper motivation so that we pray without ceasing? It is this question that we explore as we consider the text “pray without ceasing.” Thankfully, God’s word not only gives us commands but God gives us proper motivation so that we obey from the heart and not just with externals. May his word encourage us to pray as we ought.

A Life of Rejoicing

It is God’s will for you to have a heart-bursting, life-giving joy! God desires your gladness! In this sermon we see how we called to have joy in all circumstances. The Thessalonians Christians were suffering intense persecution from all groups of people in their area. Yet in the midst of such affliction, they were filled with joy! How is this possible? We look at three times joy is mentioned in this letter and what produced that great joy.

A Commitment to Prayer

God has commanded the local church to be engaged in fervent and persistent prayer (1 Tim 2:1-7; Luke 18:1-8). As a loving Father, he desires to answer the prayers of his children (Matt 7:7-11). Therefore, the church should be committed to regular times of corporate prayer (Acts 1:14; 2:42; 4:23-31; 13:1-3), to caring intercession for fellow believers (Phil 1:9-11), and to praying for the advancement of the gospel and salvation of the lost (2 Thess 3:1; Rom 10:1).
