The Trinity: Part 3

We finish the rest of the prologue of John’s gospel. We look at 9 characteristics or descriptions of the living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ and Our Resurrection

When we doubt in the assurance of our resurrection, where do we look? We look to Christ! In this text we see Christ as the firstfruits, guaranteeing the resurrection of all those in him. In this text we see Christ as the second Adam, reversing the effects of the fall and reversing the curse of death through resurrection. In this text we see Christ as the conquering King who will return and destroy all his enemies, including death.

The Trinity: Part 2

We take a detailed look at the first verse of John’s gospel. What we see clearly is that both heresy and contradiction are avoided by the precise use of language that helps us understand who God is and who Jesus is.

The Historical Resurrection

Though many see the resurrection as something absurd to believe the facts tell a much different story. In this sermon we see that the gospel witnesses are contemporary with the events they report. We see their stories corroborated by many other sources. We see the reliable transmission of their testimony and we recognize their lives sealed their testimony with blood. Christianity is an historical religion based on real historical events. What are you going to do with Jesus?

The Trinity: Part 1

After considering who Jesus is, fully God and fully man, we now must consider the doctrine of the Trinity. This first message lays the foundation for future building as we seek to understand God as he has revealed himself to us.

Gospel Work

It is also a product of God’s grace that we labor and strive for two great things: 1) holiness; and 2) making Christ known. May this text motivate us to strive for the sake of Christ and the gospel.

The Person of Christ: Part 4

The final sermon on the person of Jesus Christ. Our faith rests on the firm foundation of not only Christ’s work but on his character. Truly, he is the Son of God!

The Gospel: Of First Importance

This text defines the gospel. If the gospel is lost, perverted or corrupted then there is no biblical church nor can one be a Christian. This is the primary truth of the Bible, the church, and the Christian. In this sermon, a definition of the gospel is given then defended from the text. The gospel is the foundational Christian message, by which God’s people are being saved, that describes Christ’s death for our sins, his burial, and his historical, eye-witnessed…

Orderly Spiritual Gifts

The final thoughts on the longest discussion concerning charismatic gifts. The apostle Paul gives guidelines and warnings concerning the abuse of spiritual gifts. All things are to be done for building up in love.
