Sermons on church

All-Out War

James 4:1-10 addresses the issue of conflicts in the church. We see how fights are often the result of straying desires, prayerlessness, and worldliness, and how these problems are only addressed as we humble ourselves before the God who is jealous for our allegiance and is ready to graciously restore us.

The Powerful Church

In this unique passage within the book of Acts, we see the greatest manifestations of God’s power thus far. Signs and wonders gloriously taking place, and more added to the church than ever before. Listen in to explore what lessons this incredible event has for the church today and why we ought to plead for similar in our time. Passage: Acts 5:12-16

Christ the Cornerstone

This sermon considers what must be the foundation for the church: Jesus Christ and him crucified. Many churches dot the landscape but only those built and stayed upon the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ will remain. This sermon considers how we must do this as a family of faith. This is the fourth and final part of a series of messages as our church transitioned into a new and larger facility at 3311 Centre St N, Calgary, Alberta.…

I Will Build My Church

In this sermon, Pastor Tim examines Jesus promise to build his church. We consider when that promise was made, how it begun, how it is expanding, and finally its completion in glory. May this promise give you comfort, hope, and let you stand firm and labor in the Lord. Passage: Matthew 16:18

Christian Ministry: At Church

This is part three of a 5-part series on Christian ministry. Ministry is people serving people, led by the word and Spirit, to behold Christ and become like him. This must happen in the church. In this sermon, we consider the unity of the body in all its parts and the need for women’s and men’s ministry in the church and what that looks like. Passage: Ephesians 4:1-6; 11-16

Christian Ministry: The Foundation

This is part one of a 5-part series on Christian ministry. Here we consider the foundation principles that define ministry and its focus. Too often we are pulled away to lesser things. Here is a call to see ministry as people serving people, led by the word and Spirit, to behold Christ and become like him. Passage: Ephesians 4:11-16

Community Commitment

What does it mean to walk together worthy of our calling? What does it look like to be part of the church? This sermon is a call to commitment. We examine what this commitment looks like in different areas of life and then conclude with motivation for living in this God-honoring way. May this sermon be used of God as it expounds his word to build his church.

Community Mission

What is the mission of the church? How does mercy ministry, evangelism, holiness, and worship fit into the priorities of the church? In this third message in the series, we consider a final foundation for the community of the church. We see how with God at the center the community is transformed and engaged in spiritual battle.

Community Vision

What is the goal or purpose of the church? What is our vision to be? When we look to the Scriptures we see over and over again that the church is to be holy! We’re called to holiness. Here is a needed reminder and a needed encouragement about the importance of the church to our holiness.

The New Covenant Community

The church is Christ’s new covenant community here on earth. As such, things such as membership and baptism are defined by the terms and promises of the new covenant. This is why we hold to a regenerate church membership and believers’ baptism. Not only that, the new covenant promises transform this community to love one another.
