Christ: Superior to Angels (Part 2)
After finishing the comparison between Christ and the angels, this sermon presses home why such a comparison is necessary and how important it is to see Christ exalted as Sovereign Lord and King. We are all serving a kingdom, the question is, which one? What we see here in this text is the joy of following and submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ: Superior to Angels (Part 1)
Christ is presented as far superior to angels so that we would not forsake him and take refuge in him. In this text we see that angels are God’s servants but Christ is God’s Son. Angels are made to worship and Christ is the object of their worship.
The Glory of God in His Son
This sermon compares the greatness of Jesus to the prevailing views of our society today. Each description of Jesus causes us to marvel and keeps us from being enticed by the vanity of the world. In Jesus we have everything, apart from him we have nothing. May God grant you sight to see the infinite treasure that God is for us through the Son.
The Speaking God
God dispels the myriad of opinions about himself by speaking. He speaks most preeminently through his Son. In this sermon we get some examples of Christ’s superior revelation of God so that we would know him and love him.
The Tower of Babel
Following the flood we have the Scriptures description on how the nations began. This sermon covers 350 years of ancient history and reminds us of what we have to look forward to in Christ.
The Flood
The flood was historical, global and catastrophic. We can talk science, evidence, and so on, but what does this event in history teach us today? It teaches us about our God. Let us not forget the justice and hatred God has for sin. May we never think light of sin as we wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
From Adam to Noah
How bad were things in the generations between Adam and Noah? We see widespread corruption from fallen angels to wicked men. In this midst of this we see our unchanging God as a God of judgment and a God of grace.
The New Covenant in His Blood
What did Jesus mean when he raised his cup at the last supper and said, “This is the new covenant in my blood”? There are wonderful realities when we consider the new covenant!
Cain and Abel
After the entrance of sin into the world, God promises two kinds of offspring will emerge: the offspring of the serpent, and the offspring of the woman leading to the Savior. We see these two lines in Cain and Abel and the unfolding of God’s plan.
The Fall of Mankind
In this sermon we explore the entrance of sin into God’s good creation. Where did sin come from? Where did Satan come from? Not only do we consider the source of sin, this passage teaches us about temptation, about sin’s consequence, and most importantly, sin’s remedy. In a time where sin has corrupted God’s good creation, God’s grace is seen extended to Adam and Eve and the entire race.
