Jesus, Legion, and Our Great Salvation
In this sermon we consider the man possessed by a legion of demons who is miraculous saved by Jesus. The response of those looking on as well as the response of this saved man paint a portrait of how people respond to the power and authority of Jesus. Commander of Storm and Sea
Jesus demonstrates his authority and power to prove that he is God in human flesh. He still possession this same authority and power today and it is our task to live in light of Christ’s authority through faith. Passage: Luke 8:22-25
Take Care How You Hear
Jesus frequently calls us to right hearing. He calls us to hear and respond to his words. So we must ask, “Am I a good hearer?” This sermon examines the parable of the lamp and is a call for us to hear and act upon the good news of the King and his kingdom. Parable of the Soils
In the most well-known of Jesus’ teaching styles and perhaps the most well-known parable, we consider the spread and the reception of the message of the kingdom of God. In this parable, we’re encouraged to both see the word of God go forth and to be sure we are hearing properly in response to the words of life. Passage: Luke 8:4-15
Gospel Patrons
As the good news of the kingdom of God goes forth, it depends upon gospel proclamation. However, it also depends upon gospel patrons. Gospel patrons are servants of Christ who support the work of gospel proclamation out of their means. May this encourage us all to see that we have a role to play in seeing the kingdom of God advance. Passage: Luke 8:1-3
Sinners Love the Savior
Those who are forgiven much love much. So the question is: Do you love Jesus? This sermon explores the love of a woman toward Jesus for the forgiveness she received and this should be the overflow of the heart of any sinner who recognizes the amazing grace of the Almighty Savior. Passage: Luke 7:36-50
(Mis)Understanding Jesus
This sermon considers how John the Baptist was stumbling over Jesus and was wondering whether he was the Christ or should they look for another. Not only that but the religious leaders rejected John and Jesus, but the tax collectors and sinners are the ones who recognizes both. We learn here how important it is to understand God’s history of redemption to see Christ truly. Passage: Luke 7:18-35
Commendable Faith
Jesus continues his miraculous ministry of healing where he demonstrates his divine power. In this sermon, we consider the commendable faith of a Roman soldier who is exemplary for us and our faith. Hearing and Doing
Jesus closes his sermon by warning about those who come to hear him but do not do what he says. Here is a call to see Jesus as Lord and then live under his lordship. A life of discipleship and obedience is a life built upon the foundation that is Christ. Passage: Luke 6:46-49
A Matter of the Heart
We consider the importance and application of Jesus’ teaching that “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Every thought, attitude, word, and behavior flows from the heart. If we are to avoid hypocrisy and grow as disciples, we must learn how to understand the heart and how to behold God and his truth to change the heart into Christlikeness. Passage: Luke 6:43-45
Leaving Judgmentalism Behind

Loving Like God
This sermon continues to examine Jesus’ command to love our enemies. The key to loving our enemies is to imitate the love of God. We can do this because we have received this love and are enamored with this love. If we sing about this love, let us also live in light of this love. Passage: Luke 6:31-36
