The Church as One

“There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” This is our meditation this week. In a time that can stretch and squeeze and strain our unity, we must be reminded of the glorious truth of “oneness.”

The Church and the Conversion Therapy Ban

On May 25th, 2020 Calgary City Council passed a new bylaw banning the practice or advertising of “conversion therapy.” Many are concerned on how this will affect the church and Christians who disagree with homosexuality and transgenderism. This talk seeks to address the church and how this bylaw (and other laws like it) affect us and our message to the world.

Longing for God’s Justice in the World

Injustice surrounds us. The poor and vulnerable are preyed upon. The righteous suffer. Where is God’s justice? We consider this question as we come alongside Job as he laments the lack of justice in the world. Questions for you to consider:1. How would you explain suffering and evil to one skeptical of Christianity?2. What do we do in the face of injustice all around us?

The Presence of God

Where is God? Can we flee from his presence or come into his presence? Job, suffering, looks for God but cannot find him. In this lament on the presence of God we learn about the one true God and this much neglected topic. Questions to consider:1. Do you even consider God’s presence?2. Is God’s all-seeing presence a terror or a comfort?3. Do you think you can control God’s presence?4. Do you see God’s presence won for you in Christ?

A Mother’s Reward

Children are a blessing from the Lord. Do we believe this? Do we understand motherhood and children through a biblical lens? Here is a call to take joy in what the Scriptures call us to take joy in. May this be an encouragement to everyone to see the world as God wants us to see it! Consider these questions:1. How does God building a home through children benefit Christ’s kingdom?2. When the Almighty Is Your Gold

This gets us to the heart of the true Christian. Delighting in God. What does it mean to delight in God? What does it mean that God is your treasure? Together, we consider the call to repentance in Job 22 and its instruction to delight in the Almighty. Consider the following questions:1. What does it mean to delight in God?2.
