Sermons from March 2016

I Am the Resurrection

Jesus demonstrated that he has power over death and has life in himself. The enemy of death is no match for the authority of Christ. Death is something that we all must face. Some sooner, others later. In fact, a man who sat listening to this sermon was killed in a car accident later the same day. Turn to Christ to live. Believe in him. He has demonstrated his power in the raising of Lazarus and in his own public…

Do All to the Glory of God

With all the discussions about rights, what about our responsibility to glorify God? What we see from this text is that everything we do is to be done for the glory of God. That is, our actions are to serve others, further the gospel, and honor our Lord. This is a mandate for every single believer.

Biblical Reflections on Public Education

With the recent changes to the Alberta School Act and the Alberta Human Rights Act new policies are making their way into our schools. How should Christian’s respond to the push to make the LGBTQ movement a normal and celebrated part of our schools? If we fail to take the lessons from the past and learn from them, we’ll be prone to repeat the same mistakes. In this passage, failing to learn from the past could mean facing God’s eternal judgment. In a stern warning and urging to live the Christian life like an Olympic athlete, this passage is a call for us to flee from the false worship and religions of our day and to pursue the heavenly prize of the glory of…

The God Who Upholds

Just how in control is God? How does he govern this universe? Does he allow secondary causes (laws of nature) run their course or is he more involved? What we see is that God unholds, governs, and sustains every single particle in his universe for his own glory. This is our God!

Rights and the Gospel

As Paul discusses giving up rights for the sake of Christian brethren, he looks at his own example when it comes to the gospel. As a man who’s been transformed by the grace of God he gives up his rights or what he could rightful demand or claim so that the gospel can go forth unhindered. We look at this important text together and then draw 7 principles that apply to our own evangelism.
