Biblical Reflections on Public Education
Bill 10 and Alberta Ed’s recently announced “Guidelines for Best Practices: Creating Learning Environments that Respect Diverse Sexual Orientations, Gender Expressions and Gender Identities” are prompting some difficult questions. Does a man really have the right to use a woman’s bathroom? Does this affect Christian or Catholic schools? Can I opt out? Is it being blown out of proportion by alarmists? Join us Sunday, March 13th at 6pm as we look at what these new laws and policies mean and then look at them biblically with suggestions on how we all can respond.
Here is the current schedule for the evening:
- 6:00pm Welcome and Introduction
- 6:05pm Talk 1: Guidelines Presentation. This presentation is about the new guidelines, Bill 10, and Bill 7. We’ll be walking through these documents together, providing plenty of quotes on the screen to demonstrate the content and desired goals of this new policy. General critique will be given as we look at the different aspects of this new initiative.
- 6:25pm Q&A regarding the contents of the new guidelines, Bill 10, and Bill 7.
- 6:35pm Refreshments and Break.
- 6:50pm Talk 2: Christian Reflections on Education. Pastor Tim will be teaching from the Bible on how Christians ought to think about education in regard to the current culture shift. Homeschooling? Private school? Public? What should we do?
- 7:15pm Q&A
