Jesus Is the Gospel

In the introduction to the gospel of Mark, we're compelled to see Jesus as the greatest news we've ever heard. We're compelled see how all of Scripture points to Jesus Christ. We're compelled to humility like John, recognizing that even the best of us are nothing compared to Jesus. We're compelled to experience the power of his Spirit which he promised to give to his church. We're compelled to see the fatherly love that God has for his Son. We're compelled to seek him as our mediator because we fail when tempted and we need him to be our representative.
Jesus is good news. And Mark is just getting started!

Mark

The gospel of Mark tells us of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Under the inspiration of the Spirit, Mark presents Jesus as the Son of God and the suffering Servant sent to save his people. Mark stresses the authority of Jesus, his great sacrifice, and what it means to be his disciple. This book was given to make and encourage disciples of Jesus, and this sermon series seeks to do the same by proclaiming Mark's message for today's generation.

Tim Stephens

Tim Stephens is the senior pastor of Fairview Baptist Church. Tim grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario and has graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Queen’s University, a Masters of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at the Master’s Seminary. He is happily married to Raquel and they have eight children.
