This webpage is meant for Fairview congregants who are not able to attend our weekly gathering due to either a variety of health complications or physical limitations. This is not designed to be a replacement to the weekly gathering of the saints, but a tool to help those who are in need.
As you know, many evangelicals in our land minimize this point and treat the gathering of the church as optional. Yet a church’s public worship lies at the very heart of its purpose. The Baptist Confession of 1689, which Fairview subscribes to, makes this clear when it states, “Those who are called he commands to live together in local societies, or churches, for their mutual edification and the fitting conduct of public worship that he requires of them while they are in the world” (Second London Confession, Of the Church, 26.5).
Most importantly, Holy Scripture instructs us to not forsake the gathering. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:23-25.
May this tool be a help to you in your time of need.
