The Great Commandment

Jesus explains the greatest commandment, what the law is all about. The law is about heart devotion to God. Yet knowing this means you are close to the kingdom of God, but not there yet. To enter the kingdom of God, a person must believe that Jesus is not only a good teacher, but the Christ, the Son of God. It is through repentance and faith in the good news of Jesus Christ that one enters the kingdom (Mark 1:15).

The Great Commandment should point our hearts to God and lead us to the Savior as we fall short of what God requires.

Mark

The gospel of Mark tells us of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Under the inspiration of the Spirit, Mark presents Jesus as the Son of God and the suffering Servant sent to save his people. Mark stresses the authority of Jesus, his great sacrifice, and what it means to be his disciple. This book was given to make and encourage disciples of Jesus, and this sermon series seeks to do the same by proclaiming Mark's message for today's generation.

Tim Stephens is the senior pastor of Fairview Baptist Church. Tim grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario and has graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Queen’s University, a Masters of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at the Master’s Seminary. He is happily married to Raquel and they have eight children.
